The “10 Minutes a Reading” activity began in the 2021-2022 school year, as a result of the application submitted by PLN 2027, encompassing school levels from 4th grade on. Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp and the 135th anniversary of the birth of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the works selected were: “The Diary of Anne Frank”, “The boys who fooled the Nazis”, “A workshop of dreams”, “The boy in striped pajamas” and “Aristides de Sousa Mendes”, works integrating the project “School libraries promoting readers, values, literacies, skills and inclusion” and proposed for the implementation of the activity “10 min to read”, also in all partner schools. In the operationalization of the project, the respective books were distributed to the classrooms and each teacher provides 10 minutes of his or her class time to read the proposed work. We conclude that the project created a dynamic among students, promoting contact with books and the regular practice of reading, an indispensable condition for the enjoyment of reading and reading skills.
